35 Saddles Stolen from American Legacy Complex during Richard Shrake Clinic

Omaha, NE – On Friday, October 7, 2005, during a Richard Shrake Clinic in Omaha, Nebraska, being held at the American Legacy Complex, 35 saddles were stolen from clinic attendees, facility boarders and the complex. The saddles were valued between $40,000 and $60,000. *Stolen Horse International, Inc.* is working closely with facility manager, Dorothy Turley, in an effort to recover the saddles.

Debi Metcalfe, founder of SHI, has been in contact with Ms. Turley to acquire a specific list of items stolen with detailed descriptions and serial numbers. All of the saddles stolen were western and included a Richard Shrake Resistance Free Saddle, several Circle Y Saddles (roping saddle, western pleasure show saddle, youth saddle, etc.), Billy Cook Reining Saddle, Textan Show Saddle, Flex Lite Trail Saddles, among others.

In a conversation with Ms. Metcalfe, Mr. Shrake, expressed his sorrow over the losses to all involved. Ms. Metcalfe stated, “This was a bold move by these thieves. The fact that the perpetrators broke into the tack rooms during a well-attended event involving a well-known clinician shows that this type of theft can happen anytime, anywhere. No one is immune from equine-related theft!”

SHI has uploaded this information to its website, along with the detailed descriptions and serial numbers that are available. There is also a link to a flyer that can be downloaded and emailed or printed. Ms. Turley and the victims will be offering a reward for the recovery of these saddles.
