Trade Mission to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, April 22 to May 1, 2006 for the 2006 General Assembly of the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) and the 2006 FEI World Cup Show Jumping Finals
Ottawa Ontario - Following a successful trade mission in March to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where Equine Canada participated in the Dubai International Horse Fair with the support of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Equine Canada’s next stop on its global awareness campaign is Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, April 22 to May 1, 2006. In order to promote Canadian interests and the vibrancy of the Canadian equine industry and to conduct an inaugural investigation of the Asian equine market, Equine Canada will exhibit from a trade fair booth at the FEI World Cup Show Jumping Finals, being held in conjunction with the 2006 General Assembly of the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI). Breed associations and Canadian equine-related businesses are invited to send their promotional materials to be given away from the Equine Canada booth.
In the continued effort to brand Canada, cohesive messaging will be used to attract and develop an enhanced network of contacts of horse industry professionals (as potential buyers and/or potential distributors of Canadian-bred horses and products) in the expanding Asian market. The equestrian culture in Asia is growing rapidly and business opportunities abound. Attendance at FEI World Cup Show Jumping Finals is expected to exceed 40,000 visitors. Jill Henselwood aboard Special Ed, is representing Canada at the Finals.
As the Olympics in China are only two years away, attending this event will provide Equine Canada delegates an unprecedented opportunity to meet with a multitude of equine professionals and association representatives from Asian countries. It will enable Canada to research this market’s demands and consumer perceptions and preferences and further develop the “Canada Brand”.
For the first time the FEI World Cup Show Jumping Finals are being held in conjunction with the General Assembly of the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI). No less than 300 participants, representing the 133 National Federations (NFs) affiliated with the FEI, riders, event organisers, the International League for the Protection of Horses (ILPH), the International Paralympic Equestrian Committee (IPEC), equestrian media, the World Anti Doping Agency (WADA), Olympic Solidarity and sponsors, are expected to attend some 30 FEI General Assembly meetings, such as the FEI Bureau meeting and meetings between the nine geographical groups. One of the highlights of this year’s General Assembly will be the election of a new FEI President as HRH The Infanta Dońa Pilar de Borbón, FEI President since 1994, is stepping down.
COST to Participate:
Breed Associations sending promotional material: $600 per association (shipping of promotional material from Ottawa to Kuala Lumpur included; conditions apply).
Companies sending promotional material: $600 per company (shipping of promotional material from Ottawa to Kuala Lumpur included; conditions apply).
