Ottawa, Ontario - Canada’s Christilot Boylen has continued her successful trend by placing a strong third in the Grand Prix at the CDI3* Oldenburg, held on November 13 in Oldenburg, Germany.
The Canadian rider was one of 23 world-class competitors riding in the Grand Prix and her third place finish was less than one percentage point away from the class winner. Riding Gachino (Gardez x Chinatown), Boylen was awarded 67.88% and Germany’s Gina Capellmann-Lütkemeier won the class with 68.67% aboard Cashmere 13. Gachino is an 11-year-old black Baden Württenberg gelding owned by Mrs. Hermosilla. The talented duo went on to compete in the Grand Prix Speciale, where the pair tied for eighth place with Germany’s Karin Rehbein on a score of 65.64%. This class was won by Germany’s Michael Klimke aboard Bacchus de Light 2, with a score of 70.36%. This third place finish is hot off her recent October victories at the three star International Dressage Competition and World Cup Qualifier (CDI3*-W) held in Kaposvár, Hungary, where Boylen won both the Grand Prix and the Grand Prix Speciale. “This was Gachino’s first year at Grand Prix and I am very happy with him,” commented a pleased Boylen. “Routine is starting to come and I am feeling comfortable with his ability to flow through the test without as much practice as before.” The international judging panel at the CDI3* Oldenburg included Martin Richenhagen (FEI I - GER), Else Mouw (FEI I - NED), Katrina Wuest (FEI I - GER), Samuel Schatzmann (FEI C - SUI) and Hans-Peter Schmitz (FEI I - GER). About Christilot Boylen Now based in Gammerthof, Germany, Christilot Boylen bought her first horse at age ten with savings she earned from acting on the famous children’s television program, “The Howdie Doodie Show”. Against all odds, at a time when dressage was almost unheard of in Canada, she trained her first Olympic mount, Bonheur, an off the track Thoroughbred to Grand Prix. Although she was one year younger than the prescribed minimum age of 18, Boylen received special permission to represent Canada at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. Since that historic moment, she has gone on to achieve many international successes. In addition to having been named to another seven Olympic teams, Boylen has represented Canada in four Pam American Games. Boylen is the only athlete in Pam Am history to receive three individual Gold medals. Communiqué pour publication immédiate Encore un podium pour la Canadienne Christilot Boylen Ottawa, Ontario, le 24 novembre 2005 – La cavalière canadienne Christilot Boylen est montée une fois de plus sur le podium cette année en Europe. Le Grand prix était présenté le 13 novembre dernier dans le cadre du CDI3* d’Oldenbourg, en Allemagne, et Boylen y participait sur la selle de Gachino (Gardez X Chinatown). Au total 23 cavaliers de l’élite internationale disputaient ce Grand prix au cours duquel les juges ont attribué la troisième place au talentueux duo Boylen-Gachino ainsi qu’une note de 67,88% - moins de un pour cent plus bas que la gagnante, l’Allemande Gina Capellmann-Lütkemeier qui a obtenu 68,67% sur Cashmere 13. Gachino est un Baden Württenberg noir de 11 ans appartenant à madame Hermosilla. Gachino et Boylen ont ensuite pris part au Grand prix Spécial où ils se sont classés huitièmes ex æquo avec l’Allemande Karin Rehbein (65,64 %). Cette épreuve a été remportée par l’Allemand Michael Klimke sur Bacchus de Light 2 (70,36%). Cette troisième place vient tout juste après les victoires qu’elle a célébrées en octobre à Kaposvar, en Hongrie, au concours de dressage international qui offrait une qualification de Coupe du monde (CDI3*-W). À cette occasion, le couple a raflé à la fois le Grand prix et le Grand prix Spécial. « C’est la première année de participation au niveau Grand prix pour Gachino et je suis ravie des résultats, » s’est exclamée la cavalière. « La routine s’installe et j’ai de plus en plus confiance en sa capacité d’exécuter harmonieusement la reprise sans avoir à beaucoup pratiquer comme avant. » Le jury international qui présidait le concours CDI3* d’Oldenbourg était formé de Martin Richenhagen (FEI I – ALL), Else Mouw (FEI I – PB), Katrina Wuest (FEI I – ALL), Samuel Schatzmann (FEI C – SUI) et Hans-Peter Schmitz (FEI I – ALL). Quelques mots sur Christilot Boylen Christilot Boylen fait l’acquisition de son premier cheval dès l’âge de dix ans avec l’argent gagné en participant à l’émission de télévision The Howdie Doodie Show. Contre toute attente, alors que le dressage est pratiquement inconnu au Canada à l’époque, elle dresse elle-même sa première monture olympique jusqu’au niveau Grand prix. Il s’agit de Bonheur, un Pur-sang provenant du milieu des courses. En 1964, malgré le fait qu’elle n’a pas l’âge minimum prescrit de 18 ans, Boylen reçoit une permission spéciale pour représenter le Canada aux Jeux olympiques de Tokyo. Depuis ce temps, les succès se sont succédés pour elle. En plus d’avoir fait partie de sept équipes olympiques, Boylen a représenté le Canada à quatre Jeux panaméricains. Christilot Boylen est la seule athlète de toute l’histoire des Jeux panaméricains à y avoir été médaillée d’or à trois reprises. Elle est désormais basée en Allemagne, à Gammerthof.
